About Us

Our Story

Avalon Homesteading was founded in 2022 by Colin Stavnes and Noel Grandy, childhood friends and neighbors. 

We believe there is an ever increasing importance for self-sustainability and food security, including lowering our carbon footprint. This is the basis of our company. Our goal is to help you become self-sustainable by supplying renewable products and education.

After completing the Newfoundland and Labrador Entry Beekeeping course in 2021, we set out to find products to set up our apiary. After discovering no one in Newfoundland and Labrador had a business supplying beekeepers with equipment, we saw an opportunity. The first idea for Avalon Homesteading was born. Our goal is to supply all of Newfoundland and Labrador with quality beekeeping equipment while providing education about honey bees. 

In 2023 Avalon Homesteading is preparing to launch a line of all natural fertilizers, vermicomposting and cultivation of Red Wiggler worms. Along with this we are preparing to hold our first education class, Introduction to Beekeeping in Newfoundland and Labrador. 

We hope to bring homesteading education and confidence to all of Newfoundland and Labrador, and we look forward to growing together! Hoping for a more sustainable and cleaner future!
